Frequently asked questions.
What should I wear? I want to make sure we look perfect in the pictures!
I’ll start with this - You were created in God’s image and there isn’t a single part of you that He doesn’t love - and an outfit will not change that!
I want you to remember that while certain outfits can make for a more cohesive look in a picture - they are not the main part of the picture - YOU ARE! Your smiles, cuddles, expressions, double chins - that is what will make your pictures perfect.
The last thing I want you to do is dress in clothing that doesn’t reflect who you are. I promise you - you will feel far more comfortable dressing in your style than if you try to wear something that really just isn’t you. (…and it will show in the pictures!)
With that being said, I personally love clothing that has movement and texture - they tend to photograph nicely. When selecting your outfits, think about choosing something that would add extra detail to the images so that when you look back at them, you can almost feeeeel what you were wearing and remember how you felt in those moments.
Beyond that - I think anything goes. Whatever type of sentiment you want to elicit in your images is going to be perfect. All matching in white on the beach? Beautiful. Vivid, complimentary colors on a mountainside? I’m here for it! Wearing what you wear every day? Love it. Do it!
Please remember - these are YOUR images to keep and the purpose of having them is to remember these moments in time just as you are experiencing them.
Perfect in every single way.
What if my newborn is tearful or my toddler (or spouse…) is hangry during my session?
I get tearful and hangry sometimes, too! No big deal! I’ve been there.
When we took my son’s newborn portraits we had to take a few breaks because he became both tearful and hangry! I understand. And I will be patient and allow for space to comfort your little one. It’s not everyday that some stranger is pointing a camera in their direction and telling them what to do, and I get that.
As a pediatric OT I work with children of all abilities and ages. I have experience figuring out how to be inviting and engaging so that children can comfortably learn and do new things. So I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help break the ice and make everyone feel at ease (hangry spouses, included!).
I am here to serve you and will hang around until you feel like we got the images you were hoping for!
Do you offer mini sessions?
I don’t! Not in the traditional sense, anyways! I do not host mini session days where families show up back-to-back for a speedy quick photo session at a predetermined location. I’ll tell you why - it’s STRESSFUL! For EVERYONE! And the last thing I want is for you and your family to feel stressed, rushed, overlooked, or like you didn’t get a personalized session. BUT! I do offer a shorter session for folks who only need a few pictures of something (say a pregnancy announcement, or a milestone photoshoot for a young infant). You can find more information about them by visiting my Session Selection page!
How long does it take you to deliver galleries?
I typically try to send a few sneak peaks within a couple of days and will send you a full gallery within two weeks. The digital galleries will include high resolution images that are optimized for screen sharing. I love how the online galleries give you instant access to your pictures and allow you to easily share them with others!
What is in your camera bag?
I love my Nikon z6 and Nikon z7ii - the mirrorless technology is AMAZING! I tend to shoot with my Nikon 35mm lens for most sessions, but also have a Sigma Art 85mm lens, and I’m not afraid to break the rules and use my Rokinon 14mm lens during a portrait session, either. ;)
(And I have a Godox flash for those sessions that may benefit from a little extra light!)
Do you eat your m&m’s one-at-a-time or by the handfuls?
BY THE HANDFULS!
